Greetings comrades and colleagues.

I am the regional rep for the South Coast. It’s a huge region which stretches from Kent the east to Hampshire.

I am an Administrative Officer within the Child Support Agency and work in Hastings.

I am active within my branch and am currently Equality Officer within my branch. My specialist area is raising grievances and I have a habit of asking awkward questions.

My mission for the coming year is to see an increase in membership of PCS Proud within our region. If you want me to raise any issues please feel free to contact me. We are here to represent you and we are dedicated to ensuring that equality is not taken for granted or impeded.

Although we have made substantial progress in the journey towards equality for LGBT people, there is still a long way to go and we must never forget that what is given to us by one government can always be taken away by another government.

We also need to get our message across that the savage cuts of the Con-Dem coalition are going to have a greater impact on those who are most vulnerable in society than millionaire bankers sitting in their mansions who created the mess we are in. We are not all in this together – some are more in it than others.

On a personal level, I am a passionate rock chick with an Irish family background and play guitar (badly!). I also enjoy reading and walking over the beautiful Sussex countryside. I am also a post-op transwoman.

I am also a socialist and in favour of a republic instead of a monarchy. Prior to entering the civil service I was a typesetter for my local newspapers.

We are facing turbulent times ahead – we need to stick together and remain strong. We also need to send a message to HMG that we will not allow them to steal our retirement.

Over the coming year I hope to meet as many of you as possible and if you get the opportunity to attend it, the annual LGBT seminar is well worth attending and you can have some good social opportunities, make some excellent contacts, swap experiences and tips, and also learn about important issues for LGBT people.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, need help or want any issues raised.
