Advance notice of a letter being issued to members in the region

Dear Proud Member

Thanks to those of you who attended the Proud AGM on the 19th March.  I am sure that you will agree that it was a very productive meeting, with a lot of healthy debate!

Despite the success of the AGM, we were unable to fill the posts of Eastern Regional Rep and Eat Midlands Regional Rep.  It is very important that we have Reps in all Regions as the coming year may bring us some exciting challenges as the result of the recent PCS LGBT Consultation.

The purpose of this letter is to ask members in these Regions to consider volunteering to undertake the role until AGM 2011.  The role can be job-shared if there is more than one person interested.  We aim to hold 4 National Committee meetings each year in PCS Clapham, the rest of the regional activity is mainly self organised (but with lots of support!)

I have copied the Regional Rep Job Spec below for information.

COUNTRY/REGIONAL REPRESENTATIVE

Liaise with PCS Regional Office in your region to establish contact details of Branch, Group and Regional Committees and representatives and establish effective lines of communication to ensure LGBT and Proud issues are considered and addressed
Raise the profile of PROUD in your region by contributing to Regional Newsletters and speaking at local Branch meetings
Establish and maintain contact with members in your region through PCS Proud Website and Forum updates, Newsletters, meetings, and social events
Participate in Regional TUC LGBT networks
Build contacts with local LGBT community groups
Liaise with Membership Secretary for updating membership details in your area
Provide written reports to the Secretary ahead of National Committee meetings as advised in the timeline

Please give this some thought and let me know if you are interested in one of the roles.  A statement of interest (basically what you feel you could bring to the role and why you are interested) of no more than 250 words should be e-mailed to me at jeff.grist@dcsf.gsi.gov.uk by the end of April.

Feel free to give me a call if you wish to discuss.

Regards

Jeff
